Environmental issue
A major concern in the area is coastal flooding. Because the region is along the coast and the ocean is rising year by year the chances of the region flooding is very great. The region is very low to sea level and could flood within the near future. Solution right now are to build up around the shores to stop the water from coming in but we cant do that forever. As the water rises we cant always build up with it and it could eventually break the walls and flood the entire area. In my option if this becomes a bigger problem I would suggest people in the area to move away from the coast and more inland.

Comparison
Alaska and the Appalachia region are very similar in many ways. Both region have the same climate and are generally wet regions. They also don't have the greatest population in the world. People in Alaska have adapted to the area by hunting and fishing to get a good source of food. Also tourism is very big in a Alaska so that is where most of their economy comes from. Fishing companies along the coasts are also a big part of the economy just like the Appalachia region and produce a good income for many people living in the area.
